On the Sensory Innervation of the Soft Palate in Formosan Macaque. 333 palate. These papillae have comparatively prominent secondary papillae, their smooth and even surface being covered by a thin non-cornified stratified flat epithelium and are characterized by the few tast-buds (Fig. 3) found in the epithelium.
