Reconstruction of chest wall with Poly-L-lactide (P-L-LA) plate; report of two cases

Two patients had reconstruction of the chest wall with Poly-L-lactide (P-L-LA) plate. P-L-LA is a synthetic polymer which is absorbed in vivo. Case 1: A 28-year-old male with funnel chest underwent sterno-costal elevation and P-L-LA plate insersion. A skin eruption with foreign body granulation appeared 5 months aftter the operation, but it was controlled with steroid ointment. more » ... section and reconstruction with P-L-LA plate only. The P-L-LA plate used in our patients appeared to be good material to support the thoracic bones, because it is strong and easy to use.
