In the following paper the author has tried to illustrate the constitution of binary alloys by a few notes upon the s(ructure of metals and alloys. The methods of obtaining a knowledge of the structure of metals and alloys are first discussed, then the crystalline structure of metals, the effects of strain and the effect of heat treatment are illustrated.
