The Japanese dormouse, Glirulus japonicus, is an arboreal, nocturnal hibernating rodent endemic to Japan. Shimoizumi described the hibernation (1939, 1940, 1943) and food (1933) of the Japanese dormouse, but there is otherwise very little information about the biology of this species. The present author performed extensive studies of reproduction in captive Japanese dormice.
