Computational Modelling of Concrete and Concrete Structures
In solid mechanics, size effect is very often observed. This lecture provides a brief overview of two sorts of size effect: size effect on the structural strength observed at the macro-scale and size effect on elasticity and fracture observed at the micro-scale on porous materials. Both size effects are investigated with the same methodology, that is the help of up-scaling techniques : lattice approaches at the meso-to-macro scale and molecular mechanics at the nano-to-micro scale.
