ABSTRACT This article discusses the social representations that spreads The Clinic newspaper about the category of politicians. Are defined, described and apply the concepts relating to those representations from the issues raised by different authors related to the field of Social Psychology and Language. Furthermore, we analyze images and text appearing on the cover of the media mentioned with regard to three of the candidates for President of the Republic. Such analysis shows a negative perception about traditional candidates and a positive conception about the candidates that represent the novelty and change, which could influence the interpretations that people make regarding candidates.
