This study aims to identify the conceptions of physical education teachers in two Colleges of Bahia Military Police about the sport and its educational possibilities. RESUMO: Este estudo objetivou identificar as concepções dos professores de Educação Física em dois Colégios da Polícia Militar baianos acerca do esporte e de suas possibilidades educacionais. Como investigação de abordagem qualitativa, de caráter descritivo, utilizou-se de questionário semiestruturado, aplicado a 12 professores de educação física de escolas militares. Os resultados evidenciaram que o esporte é o principal conteúdo pedagógico da Educação Física dos Colégios da Polícia Militar de Ilhéus e Itabuna, como prática tecnicista ou direcionado à formação humana e crítica dos estudantes. A concepção dos professores destas escolas é híbrida, composta pela abordagem tecnicista, atrelada a questões físicas, técnicas e táticas para formação do estudante-atleta, e pela abordagem crítica, ligada à formação humana e integral do indivíduo por meio do esporte.
