NGAL (Neutrophil Gelatinase-associated Lipocalin ) is a protein of lipocalin superfamily. Recent literature focused on its biomarkers function in several pathological condition (acute and chronic kidney damage, autoimmune disease, malignancy). NGAL biological role is not well elucidated.
