At least once a month, I receive an e-mail, phone call, or question from one of my colleagues—how do you get an op-ed into theNew York Times? It seems that a great number of my colleagues have at least one public intellectual (PI) bone in their body that they are keen to display. They hold, often for good reason, that they have something to say that will serve the president, the American people, or even the world.
