Camponotus mutilarius Emery, 1893 stat nov., described as an infraspecific taxon wasmanni var. mutilarius, is raised here to species rank. It is an independent species and is removed from its association with C. wasmanni Emery, 1893. The male of this species is described for the first time, and the queen and the worker are redescribed.
