The February meeting was held at Ventura College. John Aldrich, supervising forecaster, Weather Bureau Aviation Forecast Center, Los Angeles, was the featured speaker. Under his topic, "The Weather Business From the Weather Bureau Viewpoint," Mr. Aldrich discussed the volume of airline traffic in and out of Los Angeles International Airport and noted that traffic had steadily increased to 1-1/2 million passengers per month. more » ... eather. He discussed the various mass distribution programs to disseminate weather information to pilots and also to the public. In conclusion, Mr. Aldrich discussed some of the problems (e.g., the effects of ozone) arising with the advent of the SST aircraft.-David B. Swinton, Secy.
