A stepping stone in such an investigative venture is a bibliometric analysis of existing literature on the topic of "environmental impact of cities". This would serve in identifying gaps, understanding the focus and gauging the level of knowledge on the subject. Moreover, the study seeks to raise awareness regarding the limited body of literature originated in the EU member states (most works addressing the topic originate in America and Asia).
