The Absurd Theater, which emerged in the West at the end of the 1950s and remained influential until the 1970s, has also influenced the Turkish theater. more » ... surd plays were not only influenced by the West. Experiences at the social and individual levels influenced the Absurd Turkish theater. It was also observed that the characteristics of the absurd theater were not far from the traditional Turkish theater. In this study, this process is discussed in three phases. At the introduction, the similar and differentiating aspects of the absurd theatre and the traditional theatre have been given and then the character creation processes have been evaluated. In order to exemplify, the absurd plays of Sabahattin Kudret Aksal, one of the writers of 1960 generation, have been evaluated and the traditional lines in these plays have been identified. Aksal's plays titled Kahvede Şenlik Var, Kral Üşümesi, Sonsuzluk Kitabevi, Bay Hiç and Önemli Adam have been discussed in terms of absurd theater and character creation. Evaluations have been based on the common aspects of Traditional Turkish theater and absurd theater. In the conclusion, in line with these assessments, it has been revealed the path followed by Aksal in creating his play characters.
