The application of the MM5-CMAQ model (PSU/NCAR/EPA, US) to simulate the high concentrations in PM 10 and PM 2.5 during a winter episode (2003) in Central Europe has been performed. The selected period is January, 15 -April, 6, 2003. Values of daily mean concentrations of up to 75 µgm -3 are found on average from several monitoring stations in Northern Germany.
