The observation of a muon electric dipole moment would provide an additional source of CP violation which is required to explain the matter anti-matter asymmetry in the universe. The current experimental limit, |d μ | < 1.9 × 10 −19 e·cm, was set by the BNL E821 experiment. This paper discusses how the new experiment at Fermilab, E989 [3], aims to decrease this by two orders of magnitude down to 10 −21 e·cm. , 01005 (2016) EPJ Web of Conferences
