When food is'again allowed by the mouth, it should be of a non-irritative character, finely comminuted, also containing much fat, as cream, butter and milk, which will sooth the irritation and prevent the corroding effect of the acid. All spiced or aciel articles and meat extracts are to be carefully avoided, as they irritate and increase the acid secretion.
