Improving listening comprehension and oral English have always been the objective of the lab course designed for the freshmen and sophomores at Soochow University. Since the beginning of the last academic year, there has been a dramatic change in the curriculum-the replacing of traditional audiotapes with videotapes as the core text ma terials.
