Field Test Results of the PILOT Hydrogen Reduction Reactor

The Outpost Precursor Testbed for ISRU and Modular Architecture (OPTIMA) project is a collaboration between industry and NASA partners for development and demonstration of in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) technology. The Precursor In-Situ Lunar Oxygen Testbed (PILOT) program executed by Lockheed Martin demonstrated an end-to-end oxygen production system starting from regolith simulant and producing pressurized oxygen as part of the OPTIMA project. This paper will discuss the design and field test results of the full scale hydrogen reduction reactor, and the lessons learned from the field demonstration.
