Pheochromocytoma originates from primitive neuroectodermal cell rest in adrenals and other paraganglion structures. The term composite pheochromocytoma is used in reference to pheochromocytoma where there are other components resembling neuroblastoma, ganglioneuroblastoma, ganglioneuroma and spindle cell sarcomatous tumour coexist.
