This chapter introduces the research background and details of temporal information access tasks in the NTCIR. The GeoTime task was the first attempt to evaluate temporal information retrieval as an extension of an information-retrievalfor-question-answering task. Temporalia was a task to investigate the role of temporal factors in a search.
