While mobility's effect on knowledge transfer to firms that hire mobile employees is well demonstrated, we choose to explore mobility's effect on knowledge transfer to firms that lose these employees. Focusing on this 'outbound mobility' allows us to isolate effects of social mechanisms associated with mobility.
