Evaluation of Present Status of Thalassaemia in Chittagong, Bangladesh
Thalassaemia caused by defects in the synthesis of the haemoglobinchains. Mainly two types of thalassaemia are found in Chattogram, Bangladesh. Alpha thalassemia is caused by reduced or absent synthesis of alpha globin chains, and beta thalassemia is caused by reduced or absent synthesis of beta globin chains. The symptoms of thalassemia can vary.
