Studies on the Scales of Food Preference Survey (Part 1)

This study was conducted to survey the preference in the selection of 30 different kinds of foods for 167 Junior college students and their 158 mothers. The preference of food was estimatd by the scales of a semantic differential method, including 9 scales and 8 steps. Nine scales for the taste evaluation were classified into 5 groups, according to the results based upon the analysis of correlation matrix between scales to find a primary component. more » ... er analysis. Furthermore, one of the scales was divided into 6 groups by using multidimensional scales Euclidean norm matrix. Therefore, it may be concluded that the preference of food can be evaluated by the narrowed dimension of analysis, following the reduced number of scales.
