Resumo Este texto tem por objetivo examinar as principais características da União Europeia e verificar a questão do direito comunitário europeu e a proteção jurídica ao consumidor no dito bloco. Tal análise foi pautada em métodos analítico e dedutivo. O resultado buscado com este estudo é averiguar como se dá a defesa do consumidor dentro do bloco econômico mais avançado em processo de integração do mundo, de forma que se possa compreender a aplicabilidade do direito comunitário. ... a que se chega com o trabalho é que ainda não existe uma política comum totalmente consolidada dentro do bloco na proteção ao consumidor, no entanto, de modo bastante interessante, percebe-se a existência de leis comuns a todos os países da União Europeia, as quais têm força supranacional e direcionam os cidadãos do bloco europeu nas relações comerciais sem deixar de respeitar os direitos fundamentais de cada nação componente da EU. Abstract This paper aims to examine the main features of European Union and verify the issue about European Community law and legal consumer protection in this economic bloc. This analysis was based on analytical and deductive methods. The result sought with this study is to investigate how is the consumer protection within the most advanced economic bloc in the world in integration process, so that is possible to understand the applicability of Community law. The conclusions that arrive at this work is that there is not yet a fully consolidated common policy within the block on consumer protection however quite interestingly is plausible to notice the existence of common laws to all countries of the European Union which have supranational force and direct citizens from the bloc about trade relations while respecting the fundamental rights of every member nation of the EU.
