Schwannomas are benign neurogenic tumors and the leading neurogenic tumor of the neck. Hydatic cysts are very common in our country; however, there is no case with a hydatic cyst at the neck region up to date. Seventeen years old female patient with a neck mass. The mass was diagnosed as type 3 hydatic cyst with radiological investigation. She had been operated, the mass was totally resected. more » ... as are the leading neurogenic tumor of the neck, and they are one of the most common cystic masses seen at neck region, they can mimic hydatic cyst. Only ultrasonography may be inadequate for diagnosis of a neck mass. This is the first case in literature with a neck mass, diagnosed as hydatic cyst; however, the histopathology revealed that it was a cystic schwannoma. When met a cystic neck mass, one should always keep in mind that; schwannomas should be placed at differential diagnosis.
