Sudden death is common and usually, happen to people who were feeling healthy and had no symptom before. Any suspicions about the cause of sudden death need to be confirmed by the doctor with the legal cause of death written in the letter of death. To confirm the cause of sudden death, the doctor has to hold an autopsy. Unluckily, there is a small number of the autopsy which held in the case of sudden death. more » ... of the autopsy held from all cases of sudden death between 2014 to 2016. Verbal autopsy is developed to define the cause of death without an autopsy. It was expected to define a valid cause of death. Therefore, death registration in the hospital will be good. This research is a descriptive observational study which used primary data collected from the interview records to the family of the 20 deceased sample after considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study was conducted to the deceased who died of sudden death and admitted to Instalasi Kedokteran Forensik from November, 1 st to 30 th 2017. 75% of the 20 sample were male. The incidence of sudden death was dominated by 40 to 60 years age group (50%). The cause of the sudden death was dominated by the cardiovascular system (55%). In this study, males were more at risk than females and the incidence increases by the increase of the age. The cause of sudden death was mostly found in the cardiovascular system, followed by respiratory system, central nervous system, digestive system, and SIDS.
