... gement considers cost function-based optimization for Direct Load Control. This paper proposes a Direct Load Control technique using a modified 0-1 Knapsack Problem. This technique alters the load during the peak time when demand is more, based on the consumer's demand. Furthermore, backup load management is proposed, which will be used when demand is more during peak load time based on the total available supply. If backup load usage exceeds the set limit, load will be cut off and the period of cut off will be based on the Fibonacci timing period. The proposed algorithms are simulated in MATLAB Simulink environment and the simulation results show the effectiveness of approach.
