A Distributed System is a collection of loosely coupled computers or nodes interconnected by a communication network. The purpose of Distributed System is to allocate an efficient environment for resources sharing as user need to access data quickly and efficiently. Data files can be stored on both local file system or on Distributed file system. Based on Client/Server Architecture distributed file system is a method of storing and accessing files as several data can be stored on several nodes
