Pendahuluan Dewasa ini, banyak masyarakat yang masih tidak mengerti dan mengamalkan perilaku demokrasi secara benar. Misalnya, masih banyak yang tidak ikut dalam pemilu. Padahal pemilu merupakan wadah untuk memilih pemimpin bangsa yang nantinya akan menjadi wakil masyarakat dalam menyalurkan aspirasinya. Kebiasaankebiasaan seperti ini, tentunya harus diubah, seluruh masyarakat harus ikut serta dalam upaya menjalankan paham demokrasi yang dianut Indonesia, contohnya seperti dalam pemilu tadi. Demokrasi yang sebenarnya adalah seluruh masyarakat dapat menyalurkan aspirasi mereka tanpa adanya ancaman maupun paksaan dari pihak manapun. Sebab, demokrasi tidak dapat terjadi tanpa perilaku yang demokratis dari masyarakat. Seperti yang kita ketahui, demokrasi menempatkan rakyat sebagai pemegang tertinggi kekuasaan, dengan semboyan "Dari Rakyat, Oleh Rakyat, Untuk Rakyat". Oleh karena itu, pemahaman tentang demokrasi haruslah diberikan melalui Pendidikan Demokrasi, agar masyarakat dapat memahami dan mengamalkan demokrasi dengan benar.
