EFFECT OF STATIC LOAD ON WEAR BEHAVIOUR OF 0.58% CARBON STEEL

This study investigates the effect of static load and sliding speed on wear resistance of 0.58% EN8 carbon steel which comes under the class of medium carbon steel. Experiments are performed under unlubricated conditions in moist air on pin on disk type wear apparatus. In this study, three levels of static load and sliding speed were used for conducting experiments. The results shows that wear increases with increasing the load and sliding speed.
