... o comprehensively evaluate potential reforms. In economic terms, the pension is considered as a complex socio-economic phenomenon. The current regulatory framework of pensions in Russia meets the requirements of the time. In the historical aspect, the system of state pensions was not the same, it has undergone significant changes. The authors analyzed the foreign specifics of the development of the pension system, and also suggested the directions of its development based on foreign experience. The paper also presents the potential for transformation of the pension system in Russia, taking into account the impact of scientific and technological progress and increasing the financial literacy of the population.
