For more than twenty years in Brazil, hip-hop is gaining more and more projection on the national scene. I propose in this article to present some considerations regarding hip-hop as commercial product and as an instrument of political struggle. I seek to show working relationships between supporters of hip-hop culture and the hip-hop movement and some conflicts generated in this relationship. I conclude the article by emphasizing the influence of social work on hip-hop Soteropolitano and its various ways of obtaining income today.
