Serdijn was born in Zoetermeer ("Sweet Lake City"), The Netherlands, in 1966. He received the "ingenieurs" (M.Sc.) degree from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Delft University of Technology (TU Delft), Delft, The Netherlands, and the Ph.D.
