A New and Rapid Method of Removing the Uterus.—

1893 Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA)
In this operation an iridectomy is first done, al¬ though this may be dispensed with, after which there is introduced into the anterior chamber, through the corneal wound, a small spatula, with which the sur¬ face of the lens is gently rubbed. The result is apparent in a few days as an increased opacity, and in the course of a few weeks at the farthest, the cat¬ aract is usually ready for extraction. This method has distinct advantages over that of Förster, in that it is more accurate, is not
more » ... likely to wound the iris, and is more certain in its action.
