... groups and each group contains 10 rats. The body weight, tissue weight was estimated at regular time. Carbohydrate, lipid, hepatic, inflammatory cytokines, antioxidant and inflammatory parameters were estimated. The mRNA expression was also estimated. Nimbolide treated groups significantly (p < 0.001) suppressed the body weight at dose dependent manner. Nimbolide significantly (p < 0.001) reduced the hepatic parameters and altered the antioxidant parameters such as thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), glutathione (GSH), catalase (CAT), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), superoxide mutase (SOD), glutathione S transferase (GST); decreased the level of inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α). Nimbolide suppressed the mRNA expression of glucose-6-phosphatase HO-1 and nuclear factor erythroid-2 related factor-2 (Nrf2). Collectively, we can say that nimbolide having the capability to suppressed the HFD induced obesity via Nrf2/HO-1 pathway.
