LOAD-UNLOAD METHOD OF NEGATIVE PRESSURE SLIDER
1991
Journal of the Magnetics Society of Japan
NCSS (Non-Contact-Start-Stop) is designed instead of CSS in RDD for achieving a Iow flying of less than 0.1 p. m height. NCSS can be achieved from the negative pressure slider and the loading actuator. The negative pressure slider is loaded without undesirable contact because it establish, at a pre-Ioading mode before self-loading, a air bearing different from that in an normal flying mode. This air bearing produces a few gram force even at lOp. m spacing and makes the slider follow the disk.
