Based on the greimasian semiotic theory of narrative and its consequences in the semiotics of passion and the tensive semiotics, this thesis analyzes the text of the script of the movies "Central do Brasil" and "Estômago" for the purpose of detecting and theorizing on the soul of the characters and of establishing parameters between the theories of the script and the semiotic theories. ... ction pathways that can be applied in the film theory of the analysis and construction of the script. This semiotic theoretical corpus will be used in order to solve a big problematic of the script, which is the difficulty to enter the deeper layers of the narrative and of the characters, an area which is considered hazy and impenetrable. Since the focus is the analysis and development of the narrative within the semiotics of passions and the tensive semiotics, we propose to demonstrate how to achieve this deep level, by examining the passionateness of the characters through their pathemic states of soul.
