Operators must ensure seamless voice and data session continuity even when subscribers are on move. Service continuity is one of the most critical quality parameter in a cellular system. QoS during handover is always hindered by the handover latency and packet loss. Among several approaches, IP multihoming is a promising solution to achieve throughput increment and packet loss reduction. Theoretically, it can ensure no interrupt or packet loss during the handover. In this paper, we present a

For the evaluation, we have developed a simulation model on top of HIPSim++ framework (simulation framework for HIP) integrated into INET/OMNeT++. Finally, we investigate the feasibility to use HIP in a vehicular femtocell which is new in the context and measure the performance in terms of handover latency, packet loss and throughput to compare multihomed and singlehomed communication.
