The Lecithinase Activity of Vibrio comma and the El Tor Vibrio

1944 Journal of Bacteriology
The lecithinase activity of four Vibrio comma and one El Tor strain was studied. All vibrios showed such activity, resulting in the production of free phosphate, choline and fatty acids. The optimal temperature was 36 to 38 C, the optimal pH 7.4 to 7.6. Ca and Mg in proper concentrations stimulated the reaction. While sulfa drugs and barbitals did not influence the enzymatic process, formaldehyde, phenol and fat-soluble narcotics had an inhibitory action. 157 on May 9, 2020 by guest
