BI Crucis - A new symbiotic star
1980
Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific
A Mount Stromlo spectrogram of BI Cru taken in 1962 shows emission lines of Hi, He I, Hell, Fell, N III, [O III], [Neill], and [Sil] superposed on a weak bluish continuum. A spectrogram by Allen in 1974 shows emission lines of Hi and Fell and possibly weak He I, [Fell], and [O i] superposed on an M-star absorption spectrum. The object is evidently a symbiotic star showing large variations in its spectral character. Significant differences exist in the mean ion velocities and appear to be correlated with ionization potential.
