Intestinal alkaline phosphatase (IAP) is an endogenous enzyme that promotes gastrointestinal homeostasis by detoxifying inflammatory mediators, tightening the gut barrier and promoting a healthy microbiome. Oral IAP administration was efficacious in ameliorating diabetes in a high fat diet (HFD) induced murine model.
