NSLS VUV ring lifetime study
2007
2007 IEEE Particle Accelerator Conference (PAC)
A series of beam studies were recently done at NSLS VUV ring to better understand the beam lifetime. Lifetime is dominated by Touschek effect, and both beam measurements and simulations show that the large dispersion and small physical aperture limits the survival of the particles after Touschek scattering. The lifetime is significantly limited by large β x at the small injection septum aperture.
