Adverse effects of glucocorticoid therapy

Glucocorticoids are widely used medications for the management of many chronic diseases, but they are associated with multiple adverse effects that can affect different organs. In the present review, a description will be made of the effects derived from the use of these medications on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis and other systems, with emphasis on the cardiovascular system and bone.
