In the 28 greater towns of England and Wales, with an estimated population of 8,900,446, for the week ending June 6th the death-rate was 20.5. Deaths reported 3,497: infants under one year of age 825; acute diseases of the respiratory organs (London) 290, measles 224, whooping-cough 130, scarlet fever 81, diarrhoeal diseases 32, fever 44, diphtheria 23, smallpox (London 34, Manchester two, Hull one) 37.
