BACKGROUND: In discussing the role of causation in science, it is necessary to rely on logically consistent (mathematical-scientific) methods. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The most basic methods of statistics and probability theory were used. RESULTS: The probability of an event is determined by the variance of an event and the expectation value of an event. CONCLUSION: Probability and causation does not exclude each other.
