Statistical energy analy $is is used to pred 量 ¢ t the internal sound pressure and the external of a rectangular enclosure with 伽 e flexible panels except a base pane1 , such as the acoustical enclosure , when the enclosure is excited by the structure . borne sound . The spatial average of the ti皿 e . mean . square ve 玉 oc 三 ty measured on 丘ve panels is used to obtain those sound pressures . It is shown that the external sQund pressure near the panel can be computed as the sum of the sound
more » ... m of the sound radiation power due to the fiexural vibrat 量 on and the non − resonant sound transmission power of the pane1 , if the receiving room is assumed to be the free space or the anechoic room . Th 骨 noise r 宇 duction produced by a rectangular enc10sure can be obtained from the ratio of the internal sound pressure to the extqrnal . The ratio of the non − resonant sound transmission power from the test pane ! to the sound radiation power from the same area of the in丘 nite rigid pane1 ( such as the piston ) having the same velocity with the pane ! is computed , and 止 e apparent sound radiation e 伍 ciency , that is, the sum of the sound radiation eMciency and this ratio is introduced . For the neise reduction and the apParent radiation e 伍 ciency , experimental results are compared with theoretical predictions with generally good agreement .
