This article analyses the representations of incest and its forbiddance in Louis Malle's feature movie Le Souffle au coeur (1971), french movie maker whose work, from his own point of view, would be marked by the theme of "transgression". The movie plot shows the incestuous relationship, conscious and consented, between mother and son. A relationship that happens in a torrid summer of 1954, year that foretells the beginning of French colonial empire collapse; such relationship is consummated
