The solution for spiritual survival during communism -as shown by the members of the Burning Bush group -was more than one's own spiritual preservation, it also meant a spiritual community, and an opening towards the young. The meetings that took place in the 1950s often earned the shape of a spiritual circle (or a "mystic circle", as the archives of the Securitate named it), and were addressed not only to the elder, but also to the young, namely students from different faculties, whose
more » ... ons tended to cross the narrow circle of the atheistic materialism promoted by the regime. The young were acquainted to the culture and spiritual experience of the former members of the Antim group, while learning to regard communism critically, as well as getting to know the treasury of the Christian faith. The vigilance of the political police, however, put an end to this paideutic experiment through the 1958 arrest and incarceration -due to accusations of activity against the regime -of twelve members and four students connected to the former association of the Burning Bush.
