Resumen El género Argiope Audouin, 1827 está representado por dos especies en Chile; Argiope argentata (Fabricius, 1775) y A. trifasciata (Forskal, 1775), pero únicamente la primera se encuentra presente en el norte de Chile. En este trabajo se amplía la distribución de A. argentata , y se entregan datos acerca de su rol ecológico para los ecosistemas del norte de Chile. Notes on the ecology of Argiope argentata (Fabricius, 1775) (Araneidae) in Chile Abstract The genus Argiope Audouin, 1827 is represented by two species in Chile; Argiope argentata (Fabricius, 1775) and A. trifasciata (Forskal, 1775), but only the first is present in northern of Chile. This paper extends the distribution of A. argentata, and delivers data about their ecological role for the ecosystems of northern Chile. A diagnosis and figures to facilitate the recognition of the species are provided.
