From ancient times Romanians have been an integral part of a multi-ethnic population in Serbia. Today the Romanian population lives in about 138 settlements in the Republic of Serbia: Bor, Braničevo, Zaječar, Pomoravlje, Podunavlje, Nišavska and Rasina districts. The largest number of Romanians are living in the autonomous province of Vojvodina, making 1.5% of the total population.
